ROLFING FAQ

Yes, it's a weird name but my goodness the results can be amazing -- and long lasting.
Here's what you need to know about Rolfing
® Structural Integration

How long is a Rolfing session

Each session after the first is 90 minutes long. Please allow 2 hrs for your first session so we can do a health intake in an easy, non-rushed way.

What I can expect in a Rolfing session

In every session we do a body reading, which is an assessment of where your body is in relation to that session’s goals. I may ask you to walk, stand, bend your knees, raise your arms above your head. Then we go to work. During the session, I apply manual pressure to your fascial network. Fascia needs time, so we work slowly and deeply. I may ask you to do small movements to support our work and so you can feel how incredibly precise and intentioned your movements can be. Please allow 2 hrs for your first session so we can do a health intake in an easy, non-rushed way.

What can I wear for a Rolfing session

If it suits you, underwear! A sports bra if you’re female-identifying, and briefs are definitely better than loose boxers or shorts.

What I could do after a Rolfing session

Walk! Walking is an excellent way to integrate our work. Plus, Mount Pleasant is such a beautiful and vibrant neighbourhood to get to know. And when you get home, if your body says take a nap, take a nap. Drink water. Take it easy. Listen to your body.

Does Rolfing hurt?

When fascia adheres, there can be a burning sensation as we begin to free it. Most often, the result is a feeling of spaciousness and relief. It’s also worth noting that with the 10 Series, we are often addressing deep underlying patterns of movement that might be a bit stuck. That stuckness may be a bit painful to release. I always want to keep you in your window of tolerance, though, so we’ll communicate actively throughout each session to find the depth and pace that works for your system.

Do emotions or feelings come up in a Rolfing session

As the sayings go, our bodies are our biographies and our issues live in our tissues. It is perfectly normal for feelings and emotions to come up in the session or in between sessions.

Why 10 sessions

The Rolfing® 10-Series is a structured approach that systematically realigns the body. This takes time. Each session builds on the previous one, working through different layers of fascia to create lasting changes in posture, mobility, and overall well-being. If you’re looking for Rolfing® in Vancouver, BC, the 10-Series provides a deep and progressive approach to body realignment. Here’s a glimpse of what the 10-Series covers: Sessions 1-3: The Sleeve Sessions – dive into breathing, balance, and you superficial fascia to create a strong foundation Sessions 4-7: The Core Sessions – explore deep facia structures, improving your alignment and movement patterns by re-acquainting you with your inner midline, the centre from which you move Sessions 8-10: The Integration Sessions – experience movement across multiple joints, enhancing full-body coordination and long-term stability. You don’t have to commit to the full 10-Series—individual sessions are also available in Vancouver for pain relief, posture correction, and stress reduction.

Can I try one session or do I have to commit to the whole 10

Absolutely try one session to see if the work — and me — are a good fit for you. If it is a good fit, the value of doing the full 10 is that the 10 permits me to address your entire fascial network in 3D and from superficial to deep. Each session has a focus, and how we go about it is tailor made for your particular system and what you need. The time in between sessions allows your body to integrate the work and for us to build on the previous session.

Where did you train?

I trained at the European Rolfing Association in Munich, Germany.
